Incubation Programs

The incubation programmers operated by HKUST aim to assist faculty, staff and students to establish technology-based start-up companies for the long term benefit of the regional economy and society. HKUST operates the incubation programmes to provide package of services to assist technology start-ups in their vulnerable inception stages, enabling them to grow and flourish. The main objective is to facilitate knowledge diffusion and technology transfer, and to stimulate the creation of startup companies and encourage and innovation-based entrepreneurship. 

The following Units of HKUST operate the Incubation programs:

INCUBATION AT HONG KONG

HKUST Entrepreneurship Program (EP)

The HKUST Entrepreneurship Program is to assist faculty, staff and students in the establishment of technology-based start-up companies. It is the policy of the University to promote such activities for the benefit of the Hong Kong economy and society.

Yeung Wing Yee Entrepreneurs Fund

HKUST received a HK$2 million donation from Mr Yeung Wing Yee for the establishment of an entrepreneurship fund. It is an acceleration seed fund that aims to support early‐stage startups owned by HKUST students to pursue their entrepreneurship dreams, develop their entrepreneurial potentials, and promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship Acceleration Fund

The fund aims at cultivating and enhancing students’ entrepreneurial spirit, mindset and skills through ideation, implementation and market trials, and engaging students in cross‐disciplinary collaboration. Successful applicants will receive an amount up to HK$15,000 to turn their innovative ideas to impacts.

INCUBATION AT SHENZHEN

"苗圃直通车" Incubation Program

Incubation Program was officially launched in January 2015, HKUST students are encouraged to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship. With innovation and entrepreneurship ideas, SRI offers a variety of "nourishment" and "sunshine" and cultivation, plus the team’s hard work for the growth of the "seedling", which provides channel to Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, Virtual University Park incubator, higher level platform to promote seedling flowering and growing into a tree.

INCUBATION AT NANSHA

GD, HK & Macao (International) Youth Entrepreneur Hub

On April 21, 2015, the ceremony of China (Guangdong) pilot free trade zone was held in Nansha. Provincial governor Zhu Xiaodan awarded the plaque of “GD, HK & Macao (International) Youth Entrepreneur Hub” to FYTRI. On July 1st, “Nansha Guangzhou (International) entrepreneurial base” settled in FYTRI by Nansha District employment leading group.
